The Administrative Assistant II (Planning Technician) position reports directly to the Director of Planning & Development. This position will provide administrative and planning support to the Planning & Development Department, a department using many progressive planning tools and committed to developing a more walkable and livable city. Responsibilities include general planning staff activities such as: front desk/front line planning assistance; provide assistance in accepting and distributing applications for review; sign permit review; provide assistance in budget management; and all other duties as assigned.


  • Must have ability to independently manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines, while continuing to organize and maintain administrative processes.​​
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with applicants and employees from other departments, possessing customer service skills.
  • Must have strong Word and Excel skills with experience in Outlook.
  • Ability to process payment requests, prepare purchase orders, track monthly expenses and other financial duties as required.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be willing to occasionally work flexible hours depending on the schedule or requirements of the department.
  • Must have and maintain a current valid Arkansas Drivers License.
  • Two (2) years related experience or training with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
