The Fleet Assistant position is a civilian position working for the Conway Police Department under the general supervisor of the Fleet Manager. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in the purchase and distribution of materials, equipment and supplies, and assisting in maintaining the Conway Police Department fleet vehicles in safe, functional and operational condition.


  • Ability to perform activities related to the procurement function per departmental written directives, policies, procedures and rules.
  • During any phase of purchasing for the City, ability to insure that all applicable federal, state and local regulations are adhered to and to operate within appropriate ethical guidelines while minimizing the cost of City expenditures for goods and services.
  • Ability to transport vehicles/equipment to the appropriate location for repair.
  • Ability to enter repair information into the computer system.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Programs including but not limited to MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to perform minor repair and to assist in installation on fleet vehicles and related equipment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid AR Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to occasionally work flexible hours.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An Associate’s degree is preferred.
