The Lake Beaverfork Caretaker position is responsible for day to day operation of the maintenance for Lake Beaverfork and Cadron Settlement Park. This includes the grounds, buildings, residence and property around the lake shore. Work performed includes mowing, trimming, litter, restrooms and pavilions at both locations. Responsible for selling boating permits for use of lake and property owner permits for boating and structures. Maintenance of arm gate to collect boating fees after hours; maintains barge slips which are rented to county residents to store barges and sailboats. The Lake Beaverfork Manager works with outside organizations and the public on events held in parks and buildings.


  • Maintenance and upkeep of Lake Beaverfork and Cadron Settlement Park
  • Must be able to live in residence provided at Lake Beaverfork and be on call 24/7 regarding Lake and Cadron Settlement issues
  • Must be able to work a Thursday – Monday shift during the peak season. (Working every Saturday and Sunday from April – October is a requirement)
  • Ability to obtain and keep a working knowledge of all city ordinances and codes regarding Lake Beaverfork, land owners, and dock specifications
  • Responsible for overseeing the building of all docks and/or other structures built by landowners on Lake Beaverfork
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to represent the Parks Department at Council meetings for all land owner issues, dock discrepancies, etc.
  • Ability to work with City Attorney’s office regarding any legal issues and help write new city codes regarding landowners, dock removal, tree removal, erosion control, barge slip removal, etc.
  • Must be able obtain a working knowledge of the arm gate maintenance system
  • Written correspondence to landowners
  • Collection of all fees and must be able to obtain a working knowledge of the City’s financial software
  • Deposits for all monies collected
  • Hiring and disciplinary action for all employees working at Lake Beaverfork and Cadron Settlement Park
  • Work with the Faulkner County Historic Society regarding the upkeep and events at Cadron Settlement Park
  • Assist in establishing yearly budget for the Lake Beaverfork and Cadron Settlement Park
  • Reservation process of pavilions, barge slips, and all events at Lake Beaverfork and Cadron Settlement Park
  • Must be able to plan, schedule and assign repairs and maintenance activities for all grounds and facilities; must be able to review special project maintenance work to ensure schedules are met
  • Ability to submit, compete and monitor all components in the department’s maintenance work order system
  • Ability to inspect department facilities and grounds to ensure proper maintenance and review areas for needed improvements
  • Must be able to incorporate safe work practices in all areas of parks maintenance
  • Must be able to implement and maintain excellent customer service to achieve guest satisfaction
  • Must be able to perform all other related duties as required or assigned
  • Must have and maintain a current valid Arkansas Driver’s License

Associate’s degree (AA); three (3) to five (5) years related experience and/or training, and 12 to 18 months related management experience; or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered for the minimum qualifications.
