Duties include handling high stress emergency 911 calls and dispatching the appropriate police, fire and animal welfare units.
Required Skills:
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be able to successfully complete the CritiCall Pre-Employment Testing Suite
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Able to perform several mission critical tasks simultaneously and accurately
- Able to effectively and quickly make critical decisions and exercise good judgment
- Able to understand and independently apply complex information to a variety of circumstances
- Must have valid AR driver’s license & clean driving record
- No felony convictions
- Must be able to achieve certification through Arkansas Crime Information Center
- Must be able to remain calm and think clearly in stressful situations
- Must be willing to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating 12 hour shift (with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Arkansas Crime Information Center certification is a plus
- Previous work experience as a dispatcher and previous Police/Fire/EMS experience is preferred, but not required
- One year multi-line telephone experience preferred
- One year customer service experience or experience working with the public preferred
- One year data entry or on the job computer experience preferred
