Groundbreaking set for splash pad

The City of Conway will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the splash pad at Laurel Park on Friday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. The event will be free and open to the public.

The 5,500 square foot splash pad is scheduled to be completed this Summer. It will be free for public use and will be handicap accessible.

The splash pad will be composed of three activity bays: toddler, family, and action. These activity bay will offer a variety play areas containing dynamic water elements tailored to various ages and abilities.

According to grants manager Candy Jones, the splash pad will cost $330,000. Half of the funding will be provided by a grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism and half by Conway Advertising & Promotion funds.

In addition to the splash pad, parking will be expanded, and an additional pavilion will be constructed complete with electric, water, and sewer amenities.
