The City of Conway is accepting resumes for a Telecommunications Coordinator. This role will report directly to the Telecommunications Manager and will be responsible for support, maintenance, and upgrades of all hardware and software systems related to the telecommunications division of the City of Conway’s Information Technology department. Systems include, but are not limited to, the P25 public safety radio system, VolP (Voice over IP) phone system, door access control, security camera systems, and city-issued cell phone devices and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Field analysis, maintenance, and support of the City’s P25 public safety radio system, with a primary focus on troubleshooting, repair, software upgrades, and programming of both the mobile vehicle radio systems and portable (hand-held) radios.
  • Support, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and upgrades to the City’s VoIP (Voice over IP) phone system including the virtual server phone system PBX, desk phones, wired/wireless headsets, and mobile softphone applications.
  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of the City’s physical door access control systems at various City facilities. This includes programming of door controller logic boards, as well as the creation of reader groups, user access levels, and user badge/pin code assignments using our access control software.
  • Creation (printing and programming) of physical badge RFID proxy cards and fobs for City staff and vendors.
  • Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support for the City’s security camera system and hardware including mounting, configuring, and updating security cameras, plus configuration of the cameras in our camera server software.
  • Support the telecommunications manager in administration of city issued cell phones and iPads including, but not limited to, ordering new and replacement phones and accompanying services, deployment, upgrades, data transfer, and troubleshooting.
  • Run, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling including door access and Ethernet cabling.
  • Providing support for end-users related to any of the above-mentioned duties and responsibilities.
  • Properly document all work and processes that are in progress or completed.
  • Ability to respond to service calls or tickets after hours as related to their job function and as requested or assigned by direct supervisor or Information Technology management staff.
  • Other duties as assigned or required by the management staff of the City’s Information Technology department

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent with formal training, certifications, and/or technical degree in areas related to telecommunications and/or information systems/technology. Preferred one or more years’ experience related to the duties and responsibilities laid out above for this position along with experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office and 365 software and services including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Must have and maintain a valid Arkansas Drivers’ license.

Annual salary is $ 67,053 with a competitive benefits package. A background investigation will be conducted before employment can begin.
