Formerly known as Mountain View Park, this site was a gathering place for African-Americans from Conway and the surrounding areas to socialize and play baseball during segregation and the civil rights era.

In 1997, the City of Conway renamed the park in honor of Curtis Walker. Mr. Walker was a player, coach, and manager who left a life-long legacy in the Conway community. He coached the Conway Dodgers and other teams that played baseball at the park and in the Conway area for over six decades.

The city resolution renaming the park stated "Mr. Walker has provided excellent coaching, community leadership, and set a positive example for others in the community to emulate."

Mr. Walker contributed countless hours to develop the park into a pleasant place for the Conway Dodgers and the community. The City of Conway proudly honors his legacy by naming the grounds "Curtis Walker Park."
