Conway Mayor Bart Castleberry has issued a Code Red Alert for Conway. If you did not receive this message, please visit the Faulkner County OEM website to sign up for future alerts.

Monday, May 27, 2019

We hope everyone is enjoying the holiday and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I need to make you aware of the concerns we have regarding the predicted flooding event along the Arkansas River.

If the floodwater numbers projected along the Arkansas River hold, then water could possibly top the Lollie Levee. This will likely affect areas in Conway, including areas along Tucker Creek and its tributaries.

Recent rainfall, predicted future rainfall, and our inability to drain stormwater into the Arkansas River and Lake Conway will put stress on Conway's stormwater drainage systems. This could contribute to a secondary flooding issue along creeks, tributaries, and drainage ditches.

Moving forward, the City of Conway will distribute information through social media accounts, our website, and through local media every day at 1:00 p.m.

We advise everyone to visit the Faulkner County OEM website and register for Code Red Alerts.

If you live along flood-prone areas, we advise you to begin taking measures now.

Sandbags are available at the following locations:

Conway Transportation Department
100 E Robins St

Central Fire Station
Corner of Locust & Caldwell

Beaverfork Volunteer Fire Department
#2 Beaverfork Rd

City departments have been preparing for the past several days and we’ll continue working until the flooding threat passes.

If you have an emergency call 911. We’re setting up a hotline for questions, the number is (501) 328-4176. The hotline will go live Monday morning.
