Planning workshops scheduled for Oak Street Ahead

These workshops will provide an opportunity to work collaboratively with people and businesses along and around the corridor on a plan for the future of the Oak Street corridor. The workshops will focus on collaborating, inviting conversation, listening to concerns, welcoming ideas, and getting reactions to different approaches and concepts. This is about working with people who are interested in the corridor, “putting our heads together” to help create a great street.

All workshop sessions will be held at the Conway Expo & Event Center.

Planning Workshop 1 (May 10-11) - Oak Street from Harkrider St to I-40

We think major areas of concern will be street character, circulation, access, traffic safety and infill development.

• May 10th- 12:00- 1:30 pm workshop studio session (open to the public)
  • Brainstorming, identifying problems and priorities, beginning work on solutions
• May 11th—5:30- 7:30 pm workshop studio session (open to the public)
  • Reviewing and commenting on emerging ideas

Planning Workshop 2 (May 24-25) – Interstate 40 to Hart Lane

We think major areas of concern will be intersections and traffic congestion, street character, land use and development opportunities. This workshop will also look at streetscape and urban design features along the whole corridor.
