Interested individuals in any of the boards listed may be self-nominated or be nominated by another person. Interested Individuals must live within the city limits of Conway or the Conway territorial jurisdiction and be willing to attend all meetings. Nominations for all boards must be in writing on the nomination form.
Anyone interested in being a part of any of the boards/commissions stated above may submit the nomination form during regular business hours (Monday thru Friday 8:00am – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) at City Municipal Building located at 1111 Main Street. You may also drop off your nomination in the drop box in front of City Hall.

The Conway Planning Commission is accepting nominations for two positions on the Conway Planning Commission. The new commissioners will serve a five year term. They will become part of the ten person Planning Commission which hears requests and makes recommendations to the City Council concerning zoning, conditional uses, annexations, and the moving of buildings. The Commission also reviews changes to the zoning, subdivision, and other planning related ordinances develop master plans for the orderly growth and development of the City of Conway, and reviews and approves subdivisions and replats of land. The Commission typically meets at 6:30pm pm on the third Monday of each month unless scheduled otherwise. Commissioners may also attend occasional committee meetings. Past members of the Planning Commission that have been off the Commission for at least five years may be nominated. The nominating committee of the Planning Commission will schedule interviews with each nominee. The nominating committee will then make recommendations to the full Planning Commission, which will then make recommendations to the City Council.

The Airport Advisory Committee has two open positions. One position must be a licensed pilot. City Council created this board to provide advice and guidance to the Mayor, Airport Manager, and the Council on airport management, operations & facilities. The Airport Advisory Committee meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 3 p.m.
Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Board

The Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Board is accepting nominations for three open positions on the board. The available positions are for one Bicycle Advocacy Organization member and two general bicycle representatives. The Conway Tree Board has three open positions, and one must be a professional horticulturist. This board was created to assist the community and preserve and enhance the natural beauty of Conway, protect the health and safety of the residents of Conway, and protect the environment by providing the development of a Community Forest Management Plan for the regulation of the planting, maintenance, removal, and protection of trees on public property within the City of Conway. The Tree Board is responsible for the annual Arbor Day festival held in Laurel Park. The Conway Tree Board usually meets on the first Monday of each month at 4:30pm.

Members shall demonstrate a positive interest in historic preservation, architecture, history, urban or regional planning, building rehabilitation, real estate, or preservation or conservation in general. Members meet the fourth Monday of each month @ 5:30pm.

The Public Art Advisory Committee has four open positions on the board. This board was recently renamed the Public Art Advisory Board and just completed a Public Art Master Plan. The Public Art Advisory Board was created to ensure the continually developing and updating of the implementation of public art. Each member shall demonstrate a positive interest in the field of art and will be willing to participate in board meetings, local community events, etc. The Public Art Advisory Board typically meets on the second Wednesday of each month @ 5:00pm.

The Robinson Cemetery Board has one open position. The Board is currently looking for someone interested in helping to preserve local history at the Robinson Cemetery located in the Historic Pine Street Neighborhood. Board members are sometimes asked to go into the field to show visitors around, but duties are otherwise related to the general operation of the facility. The Robinson Cemetery Board establishes policies and assists the cemetery’s upkeep and record preservation. The Board typically meets quarterly or when necessary to discuss cemetery operations.
