The City of Conway is accepting applications for a Fleet Technician position working in the Conway Police Department. The Fleet Technician plays an essential role in keeping the department’s vehicles safe, reliable, and fully operational. Under the general supervision of the Fleet Manager, this position assists with vehicle maintenance, repair, and diagnostics to ensure readiness for daily operations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Transport vehicles and equipment to appropriate repair locations.
• Perform minor repairs to reduce costs and downtime.
• Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, tire mounting/balancing, and inspections.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems (engine, transmission, electrical, suspension, etc.).
• Use computerized diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance performed.
• Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop.
• Coordinate with the Fleet Manager on scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have and maintain a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
• Must be able to perform routine and complex vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Must have an aptitude toward electronic vehicle components.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to lift, move, and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Ability to ensure all interactions with the public and coworkers are courteous and professional.
• Proficiency with database, internet, inventory, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
