
The City of Conway is now accepting applications for a variety of volunteer positions on its boards and commissions for the 2026 term. This annual opportunity allows Conway residents to become more involved in local government and work alongside city officials to improve the quality of life in our community.
All meetings are held at City Hall (1111 Main Street) and broadcast on Channel 22, the City’s Facebook page, and YouTube.
Airport Advisory Committee
Openings: 2 Positions | Term: 4 Years
Special Requirement: One position must be filled by a licensed pilot; the other is an at-large position.
This committee provides guidance on the management, operations, and development of Conway’s airport facilities. Meetings are held quarterly or as needed at Conway City Hall.
Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Board
Openings: 3 Positions | Term: 3 Years
The BPAB advises the City on maintaining Conway’s designation as a Bicycle-Friendly and Walk-Friendly Community. It supports initiatives aligned with the Safe Routes to Schools program.
Meetings take place on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Diversity Advisory Council
Openings: 1 Full Position | 1 Partial Position (Term ends Dec. 31, 2026) | Term: 4 Years
The Diversity Advisory Council fosters community engagement and promotes a positive cultural environment in Conway. It organizes events such as Culture in the Park and the Community Conversations Roundtable. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
Historic District Commission
Openings: 2 Positions | Term: 3 Years
Special Requirements: One position must be held by a member, resident, and/or property owner in a locally designated or nationally registered historic district. (Robinson, Hendrix Addition, or Conway Commercial Historic District.)
One position is for an architect or other appropriate design professional.
Members should demonstrate an interest in historic preservation and urban planning. Meetings are on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Oak Grove Cemetery Board
Openings: 1 Position | Term: 5 Years
This board assists in policy-making, cemetery upkeep, promotion, and historical record preservation. Meetings are typically held on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. or as needed.
Planning Commission
Openings: 2 Full Positions | 1 Partial Position (Term ends Dec. 31, 2028) | Term: 5 Years
The Planning Commission reviews zoning requests, subdivision plats, and other planning-related matters. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m., with occasional committee meetings required.
Robinson Cemetery Board
Openings: 1 Position | Term: 5 Years
The Robinson Cemetery Board was officially established in 2014 to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery. This board will help to preserve the history of the cemetery and to establish policies and procedures for record preservation.
Tree Board
Openings: 2 Full Positions | Term: 3 Years
The Conway Tree Board was created by the Conway City Council to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of Conway, to protect the health and safety of the residents of Conway, and to protect the environment by providing the development of a Community Forest Management Plan for the regulation of the planting, maintenance, removal, and protection of trees on public property within the City of Conway. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m.
