The City of Conway is accepting applications for an Expo Manager. Reporting to the Assistant Parks Director, the Expo Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of assigned events within the Conway Expo Center and Fairgrounds, including customer relations, facility scheduling, booking, contracts, event planning, and day-of-event management.

Requirements:

  • Ability to prepare and finalize licensee contracts, event schedules, facility setup arrangements, and staffing requirements.
  • Ability to enforce written policies and procedures while exercising sound independent judgment when working with clients, event patrons, vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to oversee the opening and closing of facilities based on scheduled event times.
  • Ability to monitor facility security and address operational concerns.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues during event preparation and throughout events, including making decisions regarding policies, procedures, billing, and staffing.
  • Ability to ensure proper setup of tables, chairs, staging, decorations, and other equipment in accordance with lease agreements, safety standards, and fire codes.
  • Ability to oversee all event production elements, including contract labor, vendors, security, guest services, operations, catering, custodial services, and other contracted event services from setup through event conclusion.
  • Ability to maximize facility utilization by attracting and coordinating events that benefit the City of Conway.
  • Ability to investigate and respond professionally to public concerns and complaints regarding facility operations and services.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain equipment inventories, preventative maintenance records, and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to supervise employees, establish work priorities, achieve departmental goals, and ensure compliance with City policies and safety procedures.
  • Completion of two (2) years of college coursework in accounting or a related field; plus four (4) years of related experience and/or training, including twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months of management experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
