The City of Conway is accepting applications for a Code Enforcement Officer I position working within the City of Conway Physical Plant & Code Enforcement Department. The Code Enforcement Officer will investigate violations of City codes and ordinances for dwellings, premises, vacant lots and signs; initiate and document appropriate actions to ensure violations are repaired, condemned, razed, and cleaned in compliance with City ordinances.

Requirements are:

▪ High School diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or equivalent, or six months to one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
▪ Must have and maintain a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
▪ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
▪ Ability to read and interpret laws, codes, ordinances and city, state and federal rules and regulations.
▪ Ability to issue citations to property owners and/or agents, and to testify in court involving violations of city codes and ordinances.
▪ Skill in the operation of photographic equipment.
▪ Ability to locate, read, and interpret legal descriptions, maps and ownership records.
▪ Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds or more.
▪ Must be willing to work in an adverse physical environment (inclement weather).
▪ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers and elected officials.
▪ Must have the ability to achieve work goals, follow City policies and safety procedures.

Annual salary for the Code Enforcement Officer I position is $39,863 with a competitive benefits package. A background investigation will be conducted before employment can begin.
