Beaverfork Lake Park

After Conway experienced several summers of water shortages in the early 1950’s, plans were made to create a supplementary surface water source for the city.

Thus, Beaverfork Creek was dammed to create Beaverfork Lake north of the city.  Completed in 1956, the 960-acre lake took about a year to fill to the original 3,500,000 gallon capacity.

The lake was rarely used as a water source and is no longer officially designated as such.  However, it quickly became a popular place for boating and fishing and remains so today.

There is also a 25-acre park on the western side of the lake with many amenities including a swimming area.

An 18-hole disc golf course was incorporated into the park in 2013.  There is also a large open field used for many events, including cross-county meets and remote-controlled airplane landings.

In 2017, the historic Springfield-Des Arc Bridge was relocated to Beaverfork Lake.  From 1874 to 2016, the bridge spanned North Cadron Creek in rural Faulkner County but had fallen into disrepair.  This bowstring iron truss bridge is one of the oldest of its type in the United States and was restored and reconstructed at Beaverfork Lake.
