The city acquired the 19.5 acres from the Pompe family in 2007 to be used for open space in the central part of the city.  The Kinley Trail connects Pompe Park northward into Gatling Park

Pompe Park is bisected by Tucker Creek. 

On the west side of the creek, a one-mile bicycle flow trail was built in 2021 with berms, jumps, and drops for riders.

Veterans Plaza

Veterans Plaza at Pompe Park is envisioned to be a space to honor the sacrifices made by veterans and their families in the past, in the present, and into the future. Surrounded by seating and walking paths, the plaza will showcase a monument featuring flags recognizing each military branch and POW/MIA.

Veterans Plaza was completed in 2023.
