Built in 2009 as the city’s first dedicated youth softball facility, the park takes its name from our legacy of higher education.
Conway has long been known as the “City of Colleges,” owing to the fact that we are home to three institutions of higher learning.
The University of Central Arkansas was founded in 1907 as the Arkansas State Normal School. In 1925, it became known as Arkansas State Teachers College, and in 1967 it became the State College of Arkansas. The school adopted its current name in 1975.
Hendrix College was established in 1876 in Altus. In 1890, Conway won a bidding war with several other Arkansas cities, and the college relocated here.
Central Baptist College was established in 1952. It was known as Conway Baptist College until 1961. Its campus on College Avenue was formerly home to another school, Central College. This female only-college operated on the site from 1892-1947.
