Public comment period for Harkrider St (Hwy 65B) improvements open through September 22

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) is proposing to widen Highway 65B (Harkrider Street) from Highway 64 to Bruce Street.  

The proposed project will widen Highway 65B (Harkrider St) for 0.73 miles between Bruce St and Highway 64 (Oak St). Widening will improve the existing four lane section to four 11 foot travel lanes with one 12 foot, two-way left turn lane, curb and gutter, and 5 foot sidewalks with a 3 foot grass berm. The project also includes installing storm water drainage infrastructure, erosion control, earthwork, and asphalt concrete hot mix pavement., as well as updating the existing traffic signal at the intersection of 6th St and Highway 65B (Harkrider St). A new traffic signal will be added to the intersection of College Ave\3rd St and Highway 65B.

An open house, in-person, location and design public hearing was held Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.at the Don Owen Sports Center to discuss the proposed project. If you were unable to attend the public hearing, then visit the project website to conveniently submit your comments online.

The project website provides a video presentation, the ability to view and download meeting materials and exhibits, and a place to provide online comments. All exhibits and information presented on the website were also presented at the in-person meeting.
